Appropriate length for people whose faces look too long and too thin.

The “Jinchu-shortening” procedure shortens the distance between the nose and lips, thereby shortening the area under the nose. Depending on the patient’s facial features and desires, the human middle under the nose, which makes the face look longer, is shortened to an appropriate length. It is recommended for patients who are born with a long nose or those whose skin under the nose has been stretched due to sagging of the orbicularis oris muscle around the mouth.

What is the Jinchu Shortening Technique?

Recommended for those who have a spacing in the middle of a person and want to shorten it.

The vertical depression below the nasal bridge and in the middle of the upper lip is called the “human middle”. The jinchu shortening technique involves making an incision in the natural muscle bordering the nose and upper lip, the nasal wings and cheeks, and pulling the orbicularis oculi muscle to the base of the nasal septum bone. The skin excision shortens the length of the subnasal area, which in turn raises and thickens the upper lip, giving a more youthful appearance. Not only can it be used to reduce laxity in older patients, but it can also be used to shorten the length of the subnasal area in younger patients, thereby tightening the face, which may otherwise appear too short.

In order to make the scar inconspicuous, it is important to design the scar so that it is located at the base of the nose, at the bottom of the nasal cavity, and at the base of the nasal bridge. The scar is then suspended and secured to firm tissue so that it does not extend downward.

Scars will remain along the contour of the lower nose, but in most cases they are barely noticeable. If you are prone to scarring, we may not recommend this procedure after consultation.

It is said that for a well-balanced facial appearance, a 1:2 ratio of the length of the lower nose to the chin looks beautiful. By removing the skin under the nose, not only can the complex and sagging under the nose be eliminated, but the entire lower nose can be pulled upward, giving the face a three-dimensional and well-balanced appearance from the side.

Precautions for treatment / Aftercare

  • Wash the face gently from the next day, including the wound, and then continue with the ointment application procedure 2-3 times a day.
  • Makeup can be applied on the same day except for the wounds. The wound can be removed after the stitches are removed.
  • Showering and washing the face is allowed on the same day as long as the face does not get wet, and the next day as usual. Bathing is allowed after 4 days.

Flow of treatment

medical examination

Since suture wounds under the nose and near the nostrils are easily visible, it is necessary to delicately design the excision line so that the scar will be less noticeable.

counseling

We will carefully listen to the patient’s facial features, image of the finished product, and other desires, and propose a natural-looking finish.

Anesthesia and treatment

Local anesthesia is administered and the procedure begins. The surgery takes approximately one hour.
